Curriculum

Play time

PCN believes the child is an active, competent learner and recognizes the families important role in supporting this vision. Our school is rich in hands-on experiences that draw on the children's natural abilities and follow their interests while stimulating new learning and curiosity. The children at PCN dedicate time each day to work and play, classroom jobs, circle time discussions, and exploration and discovery.

Parents at PCN are encouraged to share their talents, skills, interests, and careers with the children in class. This helps to further extend and deepen the curriculum beyond the classroom walls. Parents will find that a strong and respectful partnership with their child's teacher can help establish the best foundation for both current and future success in school. On-going communication and more formal parent-teacher conferences at the end of the school year enable parents and the teacher to work together with the child's best interest in mind.

Children who are engaged in active learning and meaningful experiences during the early childhood years gain self-awareness and confidence, learn self-management and make themselves known as learners who are well prepared for Kindergarten.
